The Funicular de Santa Luzia is located on Monte de Santa Luzia, in Viana do Castelo. It is a funicular that connects the Viana do Castelo Railway Station to the Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, at the top of the hill.
Overcoming a difference of 160 meters, in six to seven minutes, the trip on the Funicular de Santa Luzia is the longest of all the funiculars in the country, with its 650 meters, having more than twice the distance of the one that follows it, the da Nazaré (with 310 metres), while in Lisbon there are those in Bica (283 metres), in Glória (276 metres) and in Lavra (188 metres) and in Braga, in Bom Jesus, with only 274 metres.
The capacity is 24 passengers, twelve seated and twelve standing, and, reducing these, people in wheelchairs, baby carriages and two bicycles can be transported.
The cost of tickets is 3 euros, round trip on the same day, and 2 euros for a simple ascent or descent, with a pass of 30 euros per month for regular users.
