Cargaleiro Museum
Artist Collection Manuel Cargaleiro

The museum has in reserve and exhibits the art collection of the Manuel Cargaleiro Foundation, which includes pieces of different types, with emphasis on Painting, Ceramics, Sculpture, Tiles and Tapestry. The collection consists of a large number of pieces by Manuel Cargaleiro, as well as some of the most prestigious national and international artists.

The Cargaleiro Museum is a municipal cultural facility, supervised by the Castelo Branco City Council, whose main objective is the dissemination, study and conservation of the pieces that make up the collection of the Art Collection of the Manuel Cargaleiro Foundation. An objective that translates into the promotion and organization of temporary or temporary long-term exhibitions.

Consisting of two adjoining buildings – Solar dos Cavaleiros, a small palace built in the 17th century. XVIII, and a contemporary building – the Cargaleiro Museum is located in the heart of the historic area of the city, close to Praça de Camões, popularly known as Praça Velha.

The Cargaleiro Museum complements its offer with a set of services, with emphasis on the Educational Service, Art Library/Document Center and Store, in addition to a small outdoor amphitheater, with conditions to host the most diverse activities and shows, as often happens, especially during the Festival season.

Schools can book in advance to carry out accompanied visits or for activities in the Educational Service.
