Big Fair of S.Miguel
Established in 1205

The Feira Grande de S. Miguel is one of the oldest traditions in the municipality. Established in 1205, when the Charter of Vila Nova was granted by King D. Sancho I, Feira Grande is closely linked to the origins of the municipality, namely the predominant activity at the time: agriculture.

In this sense, the S. Miguel market, which takes place in Praça D. Maria II and brings together farmers, craftsmen and the famous taverns, offers the most genuine and traditional food grown in the municipality.
Dressed up, merchants bring with them the freshest vegetables, the tastiest eggs and the most tender chickens from their backyard, in a true journey into the past, where everything was “homemade” and organic.
Side by side with the farmers and artisans are the cattle and horses. A festival from Minho, a traditional defoliation, a driving competition and a stallion are just some of the initiatives planned for the first day of the initiative.
