Originating from the traditional Portuguese Shrovetide, the Famalicense Carnival is born out of the free participation of people, who take to the streets en masse embodying the most diverse characters. The custom started just over a decade ago, but over time it gained incredible strength and enormous popularity.

Having as its main stage the area surrounding the Youth Park, namely Rua Luís Barroso, Luís de Camões, Praça 9 de Abril, Avenida de França and Rua D. Fernando I, the party extends throughout the city.
